No disrespect to Bradfield Rovers but this game was always going to be no more than a walk in a park. They are bottom of the league for one thing and we like other teams in this division are that much better and worthy of a higher league .

So having got there a bit late, it was no surprise to me that we were 0-4 up! It wasn’t long before the whistle blew for half time with a score of  0-7. With 2 goals from Joe Chester  (OG by Bradfield accredited to Joe as being the last man to touch the ball.) Ryan Jones 1 Cam Ward 2 Louis Olymbios 1 John Newman 1

Ben Kensdale and Dan Warring are new additions to the team this day and we wish them all the best. Ben and Dan came  on for the second half and Ben showed neat footwork and tidy passing enabling him to cross in from the right wing where the ball fell to Cam Ward to pick his spot and  nab himself a Hat trick! 0-8

Ryan Scillitoe typically sauntered forward down the touch line to whip in a low cross that was converted to make it 0-9. Ryan Jones, ever alert and nimble bagged himself another by casually rolling the ball in from close range 0-10. Cam bagged another 0-11.

We were untroubled by Bradfield and quite literally going through the motions, there was good interplay by us, Cam Ward was again in front of goal and unselfishly set up Ryan Jones to his right just inside the box, he shot well only to bring out a good save from the goalie. Not long after it was Ryan Jones who ran with the ball from the centre circle for an untroubled run in on goal, he shot low but again the keeper saved well .

Rovers managed a good ball out of defence with a forward player nicking the ball behind our defence for the striker to bear down on goal with Ryan Scillitoe making a well timed tackle on the 18 yard line but the ball deflects off his leg and into the net to make it 1-11.

Charlie Abrehart-Briggs made a fine pass out of defence finding Ryan Jones in space with plenty of time to slot the ball home only to fluff it over. Ho hum unlucky Ryan.

Louis Olymbios won the ball inside our half and passes a great ball wide to the waiting Ben Kensdale to set up yes that man Cam Ward for 1-12 .Soon after Ben bags himself one 1-13.

Rovers  ploughed  on regardless and credit to them though their No 11 lets them down by cynically hacking down Cam Ward once he had skinned him for the umpteenth time . What a weasel! Ryan Jones  however deservedly bags himself the last goal 1-14 and gets himself a Hat Trick which is always worthy of praise but somehow seems dumbed down by Cam getting himself a double Hat trick. Is there a terminology for a double Hat trick I’m sure Ryan Jones has one but I’m not asking.

The only blot was our letting in a goal which should only be criticized in a constructive way and I feel it’s fair to say that at some point when totally dominating a game it’s easy to get complacent and slip up if only once.

Let’s hope there’s no slip ups next week when we take on Bradfield Rovers First team in the Tommy Thompson Cup, they are second in division 2 so flying high whilst also having gained an invaluable insight on how we play.
